The number and types of radiological procedures are increasing worldwide. Therefore, the patient voice and patient experience are important to the radiology profession as it provides a clear picture of the quality and appropriateness of healthcare service delivery. The main goal of our study was to understand patient perceptions of medical exposure and what information needs to be provided. Study of patient’s attitude toward two different imaging modalities using X-rays was studied by questionnaire-based method. Accordingly, two different but more or less similar questionnaires were developed, each consisting of nine questions. A total of 233 participants responded to the questionnaires. The first questionnaire was designed for patients who had undergone dental X-ray procedures and the second for those who had undergone computed tomography (CT) scans. The self-assessment of patients who had knowledge about radiation and its effects was significantly influenced by their baseline knowledge. Among the respondents, 15.9% of the patients from the first category and 11.7% from the second one searched for information via the Internet or mass media. Overall, 63.4% of patients undergoing dental procedures and 52% of patients undergoing CT scans felt safe during the procedure. The use of protective equipment made a significant contribution to the feeling of safety. Regarding awareness of received doses, in the case of dental procedures, 59% of the respondents had no information about this, in the case of CT scans—64%. Therefore, it is very important to properly inform the patient and raise their radiation awareness by providing the necessary information in various forms.
