The AC loss W per cycle per unit volume of soft magnetic composite samples consisting of soft ferromagnetic particles partially insulated among them is often considered as a sum of hysteresis loss , classical loss
, and excess loss
. Analyzing the measured frequency dependence of excess loss
at a given amplitude of flux density
using widely accepted formulas proposed for soft ferromagnetic sheets results in extremely large number
of active magnetic objects at
and extremely small parameter
relating to the distribution of pinning fields to these objects. Careful analysis and conceptual discussion are presented in this paper to explain the anomalous excess loss in such samples. Being derived under non-physical assumptions, the mentioned formulas for excess loss of soft magnetic composites are conceptually questioned.
