We provide corrections on several inaccuracies performed by Onyenegecha et al. (Eur Phys J Plus 135:289, 2020) during their calculation on the bound-state solutions of the Schrödinger equation within the Greene-Aldrich approximation scheme for the Mobius square plus Kratzer potential. The equation, which accurately describes the bound state energy levels of Schrödinger particles for the mentioned potential, is given.
