The Prevention Departments of Italian Public Health Services are tasked with protecting public health even in case of CBRNe events, according to National laws (d.lgs. 101/2020, DPCM 14/03/2022—National plan for the management of radiological and nuclear emergencies), Regional Guidelines (D.g.r. Regione Lombardia 28/12/2022—n. XI/7670) and Prefectural Civil Defence Plans. In order to identify public health interventions in CBRNe scenarios by Prevention Department of ATS Insubria (Province of Varese and Como), the authors simulate the explosion of an eRDD built with a source of (2E14 Bq) and a shielding container source of depleted uranium (1.58E8 Bq) in a small town in Northern Italy, in the hypothesis of complete airborne dispersion of the radioactive material. The dispersion and dose levels are simulated using JRODOS (JAVA Real-time On-line DecisiOn Support) system, which predicts environmental contamination of air, ground, food and potential doses to workers and population involved.
