The Manning–Rosen potential which is well established in literature for its role in diatomic interaction has been modelled to describe screening effect of weakly coupled plasma on H-atom. We derive the eigen energies and eigenfunctions of the corresponding Hamiltonian within the framework of Jost formalism in order to provide analytical expressions for associated spectral observables. Further, we estimate and provide results for absorption oscillator strengths, transition probabilities and ground state dipole polarizabilities of H-atom for different dipole transitions along with related discussions and various aspects of the concerned model.
