We describe a dual/triple-port splitter based on an inverted T-shaped metal grating. Under normal incidence, the grating parameters are optimized by the finite element method, and the results are verified by rigorous coupled wave analysis. In this study, the wavelength of incident light is 1.55 μm. At TE polarization, the diffraction efficiency of the zeroth order can achieve 32.18%, and the diffraction efficiencies of ± 1st orders can achieve 32.02%. At TM polarization, the reflection efficiency of the zeroth order is suppressed, and the diffraction efficiencies of ± 1st orders can achieve 47.11%. In addition, numerical analysis shows that the grating has a simple structure and stable performance, so it has wide application prospects in optical polarization devices, laser systems, polarization imaging, etc.
