Recent studies suggest that the evolution of QCD medium created in heavy ion collisions is sufficiently affected by magnetic field. In this article, we construct a hybrid model to study the effect of magnetic field on QCD medium. This hybrid model consists of widely used ideal hadron gas model with Landau quantization to study the strongly interacting matter at lower temperature and/or density (for hadron gas phase). Further, hybrid model incorporates the quasiparticle model with modification in its coupling constant to investigate the properties of quark–gluon plasma at relatively high temperature and/or chemical potential under the effect of strong magnetic field. To validate our model, we have calculated the various thermodynamical and magnetic properties of both the phases and compared them with the corresponding results obtained in recent lattice calculations, wherever possible.
