In certain emergent gravity models with a hidden sector, it has been proposed that the emergent metric is proportional to the hidden energy-momentum tensor. It has also been noted that all metrics in four spacetime dimensions can be cast into the extended Kerr–Schild form. I consider a possible scenario in which these results can be used to infer more detailed information on the macroscopic properties of the hidden sector. Some preliminary tests show that the proposed scenario does lead to physically acceptable results. The connection of the study to experimental test of general relativity has also been discussed.
