This research work aims to characterize the behavior of rubber-like cylinder under pure torsion. For this end, we use Mooney model, Boyce and Arruda model, and a recent model proposed by Balé et al. The Rivlin’s experimental data gotten from the literature are used. The identification of material parameters of the different models was made possible by the use of genetic algorithm method on the experimental data of azimuthal components, resulting from the torsional couple M. Thus, the adjustment of the experimental data has been shown to provide an accurate response and a predictive description of the normal surface traction resulting from the longitudinal force N, with the same sets of material parameters. Furthermore, a comparison is made between Balé et al. model and Mooney model and Boyce and Arruda model. Balé et al. model is the most efficient model among the two other classical models because it produces very minor relative errors with respect to Rivlin’s experimental data: 0.020.006 for the torsional couple M and 0.070.005 for the longitudinal force N.
