I study the dynamics of back-reaction effects with self-interactions included in a particular gauge in which the dynamics of the scalar space-time fluctuations is free of sources, when boundary terms are included in the minimized Einstein–Hilbert action. An homogeneous collapse with variable timescale for a dust system is explored in an example in which the final singularity is avoided.
