This paper addresses a magnetic yoke design to detect a notch on plate edges based on magnetic flux leakage. A design to detect a notch on plate edges is proposed in which magnetic flux leakage is used. To show the leaked magnetic field from the notch, a specimen with a high magnetic permeability is considered. Since in our setup the magnetic permeability of the specimen is greater than the magnetic permeability of outside the specimen, it has been shown that one can obtain an analytical solution for the magnetic field outside of the specimen. Utilizing a numerical method, the leaked magnetic field has been demonstrated. Furthermore, we show how the leaked magnetic field depends on parameters of the model. An experimental setup is proposed to verify the numerical analysis.
