This paper focuses on numerical simulations of blood flow in arteries with a variable stiffness and cross section at rest using a kinetic flux-vector splitting (KFVS) scheme. The fluxes are nonzero and exactly balanced by the source terms, and hence, the equations maintain the steady-state solutions. Our interest resides in the numerical estimate of the aforementioned flow model, whose complexity presents numerical difficulties. The suggested KFVS scheme suppresses the effects of numerical oscillations and dissipation. This makes the scheme more accurate and robust than the traditional numerical strategies. The KFVS scheme is then validated on examples taken from the literature. The central scheme has been used for the comparison of results obtained from proposed scheme.
