In this paper, we use the similarity transformation method to investigate the generation and the control of rogue wave solutions in nonlinear optical cavities described by a (2 + 1) -dimensional Lugiato-Lefever equation with varying coefficients. For a periodic distribution of the diffraction parameter, first-order and second-order rogue wave solutions with multiple compression points are generated. Our results reveal that multiple compression points depend on the values of the modulation amplitude of the diffraction parameter and are independent of the spatial distribution in the cavities.
