Spatially homogeneous and anisotropic Bianchi type-II, -VIII and -IX cosmological models filled with perfect fluid in the framework of the f (R, T) gravity proposed by Harko et al.(Phys. Rev. D 84, 024020 (2011)) and also in general relativity have been studied. All the models obtained and presented here are anisotropic, expanding, non-rotating and also accelerating. Some important features of the models thus obtained have been discussed. We also noticed that the involvement of the new function f (R, T) does not affect the geometry of the space-time but slightly changes the matter distribution.
