On the longitudinal boundary condition of the Sverdrup stream function: A new derivation

The vanishing of the Sverdrup transport at the eastern coastline of any oceanic basin is a classic result of physical oceanography. It has been obtained in several ways: here it is rederived in the framework of the homogeneous model, whatever wind forcing, dissipation operator and additional boundary conditions may be taken into account. The considered method applies, in particular, to a class of model solutions singled out recently.
